Baptism publicly celebrates our entrance into God's family. Through baptism we publicly identify with Jesus in His death and resurrection (Romans 6:3-4). The New Testament knows nothing of an unbaptized Christian; once a person professed their faith in Christ, they were baptized soon after.
Our baptism also stands as a reminder of the spiritual reality that's taken place - we're forgiven, we're reconciled to God, we're clothed in the righteousness of Christ, we're adopted as God's sons and daughters, and we're indwelt with the Holy Spirit. So when temptation arises, doubt creeps in, periods of dryness occur, or we fall into sin, we're to remember our baptism and our union with Christ.
Baptism is an important next step to the right for every Christian.

How are baptisms performed at Grace?
We practice immersion baptism. Here's what will happen: you'll step up into the baptismal, sit down in the water, then you'll be guided to lay back so your head goes under the water, and you'll be brought back up. The person baptizing you will have one hand under your back and one hand holding your arm.
When are baptisms celebrated at Grace?
When a baptism is scheduled it's normally part of the worship service on Sunday mornings. You can discuss specific dates with the pastor when submitting the form below.
What if I was baptized before?
If you were baptized as an infant, and you've now become a Christian, we would encourage you to be baptized again as a new believer in Jesus.
Sometimes a baptized Christian desires to be baptized again after experiencing certain periods in their Christian journey (such as personal struggles or apathy). For them getting baptized again symbolizes their recommitment to Christ and being His disciple. At Grace, we'd love to celebrate this with you.

Will I have to say anything?
You'll be asked to share briefly why you're being baptized. Once in the water, you'll be asked three questions: 1) do you confess Jesus Christ to be the Son of God, 2) have you asked Him to forgive your sin, 3) do you commit to follow Him as His disciple?
What should I bring?
Bring with you a change of clothes and a bag for wet clothes.
When you arrive Sunday morning, wear suitable clothes to get wet in (avoid wearing clothes that are white and snug). The baptism will take place near the beginning of the service. Towels will be provided for you.
