A People in Exile
Through His prophets, God delivers messages of judgement and hope to Israel and Judah. God warned them from the beginning: failure to follow My commands will result in you being exiled to other nations. And so, to be faithful to who He is, God must judge the people. However, God's faithfulness to His word here proves that He'll be faithful to His word later.
The basis of the prophetic message is God's commitment to His covenant with Abraham and the covenant made between the Godhead - the Covenant of Redemption. This means that though it seems that His kingdom is no more, God prophesies a coming Kingdom that is rising on the horizon. The God of the exile is also God of the exodus. The people must trust the very One who is sovereign over both realities.
