And God Promised
In Genesis 12, God calls a man named Abram (who God renames Abraham later on). The call is to leave his place of birth and go to a land that God will show him - the land of Canaan, the promised land. Once there, God makes a covenant with Abram that goes beyond anything he can imagine. It will be through the line of Abram that God will fulfill His eternal plan of restoring His relationship with humanity and reestablishing His Kingdom in all of creation.
The promised Kingdom of Genesis 12 has always included people from every tongue, tribe and people group. It has never been about one particular group with everyone else added on as an afterthought. It's been said that the rest of the Old and New Testament are an outworking of these promises in Genesis 12, which ultimately find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ. All who are joined to Him through salvation share in the inheritance of God's promised Kingdom.
